Jane Le Poidevin
Jane has been a primary school headteacher in both the independent and state sectors for over 20 years. Most recently she was head of a 3-form entry primary school, which included a 10 place resource provision for pupils who have social, emotional and mental health as their primary area of need.
During her last Ofsted inspection, the headteacher was described as having developed an ambitious culture within the school and having a clear understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for development. “They are using their thorough and honest appraisal of the school to secure the required improvements.”
Throughout the 9 years at her last school, the school grew from 2 to 3 form entry and the education of the whole child has remained one of Jane’s passions, along with effective distributed leadership.
She continually effectively reviewed and then developed the whole school experience for every child. This led to school results being in line with or above national outcomes and the school having a strong emphasis on extra-curricular provision, whether it be significant sporting achievements, a programme of residential experiences or whole school trips.
Jane retired from Headship in August 2022 and since then has continued to support the world of education through being a System Leader for the Local Authority, being a School Improvement Partner for a primary special school and more recently carrying out Quality Assurance school visits for ECTs, as well as working as a Bereavement Administrator at the local Crematorium.
Particular areas of strength
Leading a large primary school, distributed leadership, support and challenge for headteachers, robust self-evaluation and identification of school development priorities, effective school governance, safeguarding and headteacher appraisal.
