The School

In September 2023 we opened our doors of Kenilworth School after relocating to a brand new, bespoke campus. The Science Department has its own wing comprising of 14 laboratories, 2 Science studios, 1 flexible learning space, 1 large Science staff base and 3 large prep rooms. Labs are fully equipped with large interactive TV screens and all the latest technologies. This is now a very exciting time for Kenilworth staff and students as we work in this new exciting environment.

Kenilworth Multi-Academy Trust (KMAT) is a growing organisation and is currently made up of two schools.  Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted and as the only secondary school in the community of Kenilworth, is oversubscribed with motivated and well behaved pupils.

The Role

We are looking to appoint a Science Technician to be based at Kenilworth School & Sixth Form, within an established and committed team of Science Technicians to support a large department.  This is an exciting post for a Science Technician to join the team and training can be given to a suitable candidate with a science background.  An awareness of working within manual handling and COSHH procedures would be advantageous, but not essential.

Hours of work:          8.30am to 4.00pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak)

Working pattern:       Currently Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but flexibility may apply depending on the needs of the department.

Typical Duties:

  • Assisting Science Technicians and teachers in setting up and clearing away practical experiments.
  • Ensuring practical equipment orders are complete and ready for lessons.
  • Handling chemicals, making up solutions including correct disposal.
  • Opportunities to assist with classroom demonstrations and practical activities.
  • Opportunities to become involved in the planning and development of new practical elements alongside any changes within the Science curriculum.
  • Working within guidelines and procedures to ensure the laboratories are clean, safe and tidy.
  • Undertake First Aid duties as required.

We can offer you:

  • Excellent CPD opportunities
  • A supportive team of colleagues within the Department and across the school
  • A positive, community school environment with an innovative learning culture
  • A dedicated and forward-looking management team, with highly skilled staff upholding high expectations and aspirations for our students
  • Employee well-being benefits via our Employee Assist healthcare programme  (Benenden) to include health diagnostics, physiotherapy, 24/7 GP and mental health support, retail and gym discount, free flu vaccination, free on-site gym and free parking, together with free electric car charging points.

Please email your completed application to Deena Perry at D.Perry@kmat.org.uk
